So. You have probably noticed, I like my lunch boxes to seal well. This is not just because I want to keep the goodness in, but also because I hate washing, washing up and cleaning in general. So any extra cleaning or washing is a definite no go. I was more than happy to put the Decor Realseal Lunch break range to the test, (Decor sent me these products to review, but I haven’t been paid to review and all opinions are mine) as I really love containers which actually seal. Anyone who has watermelon juice spill through a bag will totally understand this. It marks everything!
Leaky yoghurt is also a serious pet hate because the whey gets out…is clear and then dries STINKY! I put these containers to the ultimate test. By accident. I left coconut oil in one of these on the back seat of my car for a week. A whole week. Is the back seat now an oily mess?? Nope. So that is a massive win!
If you’re looking for a way to make a non leak proof lunchbox leakproof, the mini containers are perfect for salad dressings, dips etc and fit conveniently in some of the larger non leakproof lunchboxes such as the sistema triple split, goodbyn hero, fuel bento.
If you’re looking for a whole lunch solution, they also sell a very convenient set that contains a 1litre lunch box a 650ml sandwich box a 300ml snackbox and a clip together knife fork and spoon set with case that has a custom designed cooler bag (The Realseal Big Lunch Insulated cooler bag) and a brilliant ice pack (Icewall). It’s excellent walue at only $17.95 from Howards Storage World.
These containers are best suited to older kids who listen and have good small motor skills, why? Because they need to pop down the sealing mechanism on the top to achieve a leakproof seal. They would also be good for sending in lunches for kids who have adult assistance. But to be honest, these are going to be used and abused by me…in my handbag. For the “I must have strawberries and kiwi for morning tea” moments when we go out for the day. Because those moments always end in mess through my handbag.
You could use the sandwich box to make an awesome bento style snack too– with the added benefit of a no leak lid!
The Decor Icewall has also proved to be an extraordinary winner and fits in most of the cooler bags I’ve got. It has still been frozen at 3:25pm which means it has excellent staying power. They are available separately at Big W, Spotlight and Howards Storage World.
You can get the little sets of two snack pods at Coles and the sets of leakproof containers there too. These are a necessity in your life. They are also microwave proof with the seal popped up, so great for heating stuff etc.
