So, you've probably heard all the buzz around chia jam, it's awesome! Particularly if you're interested in cutting down the sugar consumed in your household. Strawberries are in abundance right now and we are loving the fresh, ripe flavours of them. But, Miss 6 also loves jam. It's something I try to avoid because of the high sugar content, but it's inevitable that once it's been tasted it will be loved! So here's my attempt to lower the sugar content and make something just as yummy, an easy strawberry chia jam with thermocook and conventional methods.
With a thermocook this is a "chuck it all in and you're good to go type of recipe". So It's pretty easy to whip it up. Without one, you'll need a blender to get the strawberries chopped and a stove top and it takes about 15 mins more. Either way, this recipe is totally worth it because when compared to jam, it's healthier, quicker and so much easier!
If you've ever made your own Jam, you'll think this sounds all too easy, but trust me, you'll be converted to this simple method once you've given it a go. What to serve it with? Simple toast, scones, or even as I'll show you next week, as healthier jam drops!
You could switch the fruit in this for another fruit, but be sure to choose something that has high pectin- basically the traditional jam fruits, because otherwise it might not gel properly.

Hello, do you have to add the honey if your strawberries are sweet enough already? Thanks!
Kylie says
No! If your strawberries are super sweet do it without. But taste before you roll them, just to double check they are sweet enough.
