You’ve all been asking for it since I did the lunchbox review. Drink bottles, love them or hate them they are a necessity. But how to find the one that’s perfect for your kids? It depends on so many factors.
For me, these are key:
- ease of drinking
- ease of cleaning
- ease of filling (think can grandparents do it? Can the preschool teachers?)
- whether it is leakproof (for home use they don’t have to be, but I’ll tell you about our dance bag later)
Miss 5 will easily down 700mls of water in a day at preschool. I guess that would be about the average, but a drink bottle that holds that much is very heavy when full. So I prefer to lean towards the 400-600ml range and get her to refill it during the day.
Now- the dance bag. Miss 5 dances once per week and probably every second week her drink bottle empties throughout her entire bag, resulting in wet shoes, crossovers, book, floor, bag….basically everything. It’s a multidiscipline class so there can be up to three pairs of dance shoes in that bag when it leaks. The avex flip opens and the large flip top zaks have been the biggest culprits.
I want to be very clear. I own a lot of drink bottles. Even the ones in the pictures, some are new replacements for bottles I’ve had for ages, that’s been done for the photos- noone wants to see my tatty drink bottles with ages of use, right? I have done extensive use of each one for this review, the only ones that I have received new that I hadn’t used before this time are: Earth Bottles, Oasis, Klean Kanteen insulated, Decor Pumped Slider and the Thermos Funtainer (I have used their sippy cups). I’ve purchased many of the drink bottles myself so as to make sure there is no question as to whether or not this is a fair review.
