This post is updated and now has a video! Woohoo! 6 natural ways to flavour Greek yoghurt for kids...who knew it would be so popular? New photos were definitely needed!
Have you noticed? I don't buy kiddy yoghurts. One of the main reasons for that is their sugar content, one of the other reasons is that I'm a cheapskate. I make my own yoghurt for around $1.20 per litre. The kids love it, I use it in baking, lunchboxes and all sorts of things.

It's thick, creamy and delicious on it's own, but it does have a tang to it, so if you've got picky kids or kids who are used to kiddy yoghurt, you will need to flavour it. Plus, let's be honest, it's fun to have different flavours of yoghurt in your lunch! So here are 6 ways to flavour Greek yoghurt!
all natural ways to flavour greek yoghurt? Yes please![/caption]
If you want to read more about the kiddy yoghurts, Stacey from My Kids Lick the Bowl has done an awesome blog post about it. Once you see how much sugar is in those pouches, you will never turn back.
so much yum![/caption]
When I mention yoghurt in this article, I'm talking full fat, greek yoghurt. Jalna make a pot set one. It is as similar to the homemade yoghurt that I make that you will find in a supermarket. Low fat yoghurt has no place in a kids lunchbox unless it has been prescribed by a medical practitioner.
pouch...and go![/caption]
Now, I recently moved to using reusable yoghurt pouches (I use My Lil Pouch- I've tried a few brands but really like these ones- I have to admit here that they have sent me some to use gratis, but that doesn't change my opinion...because I've had a few brands sent to me for free and this is the one I like best) and the ease of using them has gotten me hooked.
Miss 4 doesn't need a spoon (which gets lost anyway) and doesn't complain about wanting her yoghurt to look like the ones the other kids have because the pouches are cute with nice designs. They can also go in the dishwasher--a big plus for me. I'll be sharing a post next week with my top tips for using yoghurt pouches. You can read my post on how to use the pouches here.

My family like flavoured yoghurts, I like Greek yoghurt. My husband gags at Greek yoghurt, do these flavoured yoghurt recipes taste like the "Chobani" flavours ( my husband hates) or are they more like the sweetened yoghurts like "Pauls" brand for example ( my husband likes) . If not, can you add sugar or sweeteners to enhance the taste as obviously fruits will add their own Sucrose and tastes depending on season freshness and ripeness etc. We are not overly concerned with having to add "sugar" to achieve a palatable taste etc but the possibilities of a fresher, better culture is of attraction.
Kylie says
These are flavoured, not sweetened, if you want sweetened add sugar or whatever sweetener tickles your fancy.

Your mouthwatering pictures have bewitched me body and soul, however the recipe I can see is the strawberry flavoured one. How can I see the rest of the recipes? I'm desperate to make the whole lot for myself and my children! Thank you so much!
Kylie says
I will have a look tonight and add them back in!
Christina Zahra says
Fantastic ideas here thanks! How long would yogurt last for in the pouches would you say? Keen to give these a go!
Kylie says
I only put it in just before hand as I like to mix the flavours as I need them!
Christina Zahra says
Thanks. I've tried a few in the freezer and we'll see how it goes!
It was very runny though. Is that expected?
Jess says
Thankyou for sharing! Looking forward to trying and your video on pouches.

My daughter practically lives on yogurt. Can't wait to try a few of these out and see if they go down well. I often get a 'how dare you' looks for adding pieces of fruit in the mix.
Kylie says
That's why I blitz! I always get that "how dare you look". 🙂
Karin @ Calm to Conniption says
I really need to give this a go. I have pouches but have been put off by the taste of greek yoghurt, knowing how picky my little man is. Thanks for the tips to flavour it up!
Kylie says
Trust me Karin....:-) you can convert him!

Awesome! I don't have kids but these would be great for work snacks! I love the look of the blueberry and lemon yoghurt! Thanks for the great ideas =)
Kylie says
Enjoy! And yes they are awesome for work snacks! You won't even need to do a second blitz (unless you like it runny!).

We usually only have greek yoghurt in our house, the girls actually prefer it which is great and we love making up our own flavours. I have always thought about getting those pouches but have always walked away because I am really concerned about how clean you can actually get them. Will have to pop baclk and read your post on them.
Kylie says
Don't worry, I get them super clean! ?
bakeplaysmile says

Kylie says
I like the maple cacao, but Master 2 refuses it. Miss 4 thinks it is actual chocolate! Thanks for having me!
