First and foremost, I was given this Apple and Mint cooler bag to try by Lime Tree Kids. I love the design, a very funky pineapple and the feel of the bag is nice too. There are many designs to choose from and they would appeal to a wide range of kids, from young to old.
The cooling panel that comes with the bag does eight hours cooling. It has it’s own bag and is supposed to be condensation free. It’s important to note that using the pocket on the back of the bag doesn’t help to keep the lunch cool. The ice pack needs to be in with the lunchbox in the main bag as the pocket is insulated. I hear people saying the ice pack is still frozen in the afternoon when they use the back pocket. That’s great, but it’s purpose is to chill the contents of the lunchbox.
Ease of cleaning: Unfortunately it isn’t washing machine safe according to its labels. You might be able to get away with it, but realistically, it could turn out badly. The fabric is coated, meaning most spills will wipe off the exterior and the internal coating wipes down well too.
Extra features: The handle undoes easily so as to clip onto a pram or school bag. Internal mesh pocket. Sleeve style pocket on the front, small pocket on the back to put the icepack in.
Ice pack: The cooling panel that comes with these bags does leave a lot of condensation. But with a medium fridge to go panel in the bag, it seems to not only keep its cool better, but it also doesn’t get wet. You could also use this with decor ice walls.
