On some of the lunchbox facebook pages there are people who put my little toolkit to shame. I’m showing you what I use regularly and how I use it rather than overwhelming you with everything I use. Generally speaking, I don’t use sandwich cutters that often. Mainly because I don’t send sandwiches that often.
But I do use my veggie cutter a lot, it gives nice little crinkles to all the veggies and makes them look quite cute. I got mine from a homewares store and it was only about $5, but I’ve seen them in “junk” stores and much bigger which would be great if you also wanted to do longer carrots. This little one is also ideal for doing little crinkly discs of sweet potato for roasting and they make a good “leftover” in lunchboxes.
And here’s a cheeky little hack…if you are making cookies that have to be cut from a roll, using the crinkle cutter makes them look extra special! You can also use it for cutting zucchini to make little zucchini rounds for making zucchini chippies.
I’ll be showing you a video of how easy it is to make sushi later in the week and for that I use my easy peasy sushi maker * that is pictured to the right. The awesome thing about it is that it has two little bits that you push that effectively “eject” the prepared rice and fillings onto you nori, all prepared and ready to roll. If you’ve ever tried making sushi with the bamboo mat and failed, this is the tool that will turn it around for you.
Have you been to sushi train and watched them making sushi- me too- they have years of experience and make it so easily. But me, I just managed to make a mess and to be honest I don’t have time to mess about with it in the morning.

*I was given the Easy Peasy to try, but the opinion here is my own. I have used other sushi makers and other methods for making sushi and think this one is much better.
