This post is sponsored by Perfectly Balanced, a range of delicious meat products packed with veggies that will help you rebalance your family veggie intake!
Since I wrote this post they have doubled their range!!!
I recently asked my readers what they struggle with most when feeding their kids, and the most resounding answer: getting enough veggies into them. And I think I’ve found the easiest and best tasting way to rebalance your family veggie intake and please fussy kids!
About the Perfectly Balanced
I never thought I would be singing the praises of meatballs and sausages that you can buy at your local Woolworths, but these little time-saving products are amazing. They basically include everything you would try to smuggle in them if you were making them yourself. The added bonus: I don’t know if you’ve ever tried to make sausages- but it is super time-consuming. Plus: what kid doesn’t love sausages?
Perfectly Balanced has been created to let you have the things your kids like, but with the added bonus of hidden veggies. There are no hidden nasties though, and each recipe is a perfectly blended combination of prime Aussie beef and delicious veggies. There are currently three products in their range: Beef, Carrot and Lentil Sausages, Beef, Sweet Potato and Kale Meatballs and Beef and Carrot Chipolatas.
Our favourite? The Beef, Sweet Potato and Kale meatballs! They are great with pasta sauce, brilliant on their own and great in a sub too- so they are super versatile. Squash them a bit and you’ve got the perfect sized burger patty for a slider burger.
The Perfectly Balanced are perfect for all of the family. The generous amount of veggies and legumes in them mean they are high in fibre and protein, so you’re getting everything your family needs to enjoy a healthier meal.
I often try to blitz our veggie quota before dinner time so I don’t have to stress about getting veggies into tired and cranky kids at dinner time. You can bake the meatballs, or sausages too and include them in the meals that you could normally make using these things. Like curried sausages, sausage hot pot, meatball risotto etc.
One of my top serving tips: serve them with more veggies- the kids don’t think you’d be so sneaky as to serve hidden veggies and veggies on the one plate! It doesn’t have to be difficult to rebalance your family veggie intake- because these products are even loved by hard-core meatlovers (Mr Kidgredients).
Getting extra veggies into the lunchbox
I decided to get creative with the Perfectly Balanced range to see what I could come up with for lunchboxes. So, with the Beef and Carrot chipolatas I made sausage rolls (they only take 25 minutes in the oven and use puff pastry)! I popped the cooked Beef, Sweet Potato and Kale Meatballs on skewers with some extra veggies.
I did a simple “hot dog” with the Beef Carrot and Lentil Sausages, but then I also used them in a re-do of an old recipe of mine- Sausage and pea pasta sauce for a hot lunch.
Have a watch of the video to see how much fun you can cram into the lunchbox with a little help from the Perfectly Balanced Range!
Looking to grab some for yourself? They are available at Woolworths and they are only $7.50 a pack.
