Welcome to Kidgredients
Hi, I’m Kylie Archer. Welcome to this little patch of the internet that I call home. This is where I combine my passions for food, teaching and being a mum, into creating and sharing recipes your whole family will love. And I have a lot of fun along the way!

The mum behind the recipes
I’ve been many things in my life. I have four degrees and speak fluent Italian. I have worked as a teacher and educational designer from Kindergarten through to Tertiary level. Being in a classroom is like second nature to me.
But, 10 years ago I became a mum... and I gave it all up. It was the best decision I’ve ever made.
Today, I’m mum to Miss 10 and Master 8 (and two golden retrievers, Charlie and Ollie). As you’ve probably guessed, food is a big part of our family life. I’ve been cooking since I could hold a spoon and love to encourage my kids to join me in the kitchen. We roast our own coffee, make our own cheese, brew our own beer and spend weekends barbecuing or cooking pizza in our wood-fired pizza oven.
In 2014, I plucked up the courage and started Kidgredients to share my love of family food. Never could I have imagined that my recipes would reach 160k people around the world every month.
My family food philosophy
I am a mum just like you. My Miss 10 likes plain food whereas Master 8 likes marinades and sauces. They certainly keep me on my toes while I try to make dinnertime a success. I understand that some days just getting something on the table is half the battle, let alone trying to get the kids to eat it.
I believe that making someone a meal is an expression of love. I teach my kids eating by example and that family meals are a fantastic part of the day.
I grew up in the 80s and 90s when white bread devon sandwiches were the staple in my lunch box, along with a frozen poppa, a packet of chips and a piece of fruit that served as mere decoration because it never got eaten.
I want to send my kids off to school with wholesome and delicious things in their lunchbox so they can enjoy lunchtime. As an ex-teacher, I know how important it is that they have a filling and nutritious breakfast, lunch and dinner to fuel their minds and bodies every day.
I accept that kids are going to eat sugar. It is what it is. But I also do everything I can to fill their bellies with nutritious, whole food that tastes amazing. That doesn’t need to mean organic ingredients. I want to teach you to make healthy food from scratch with the ingredients you have in your pantry.
What you can expect from Kidgredients
Every single recipe on Kidgredients has been triple tested by my family. I don’t cook meals just to take photos. We actually eat them. Every single one.
All of our family favourites are here… and I hope they will become yours too!
At Kidgredients, you won’t find tricks, smoke and mirrors or semi baked chicken that is a breeding ground for salmonella. What you will find is real, good, honest family food.
I love nothing more than coming up with a new recipe that I know will be a game changer for a parent with a fussy eater. Over the years I’ve shared budget friendly meals, dinners, side dishes, freezer meals, lunchbox ideas and everything in between. My true obsession is lunchboxes.
If you're new here, welcome. A good place to start is with my recipe files. If you've been around for a while, welcome back. You can use the search bar to relocate the recipes you are after.
